Leadership

Mark Burgiss has worked in secondary and special education for the past 20 years . He has mainly taught Physical Education, Science and Life skills and has worked at both Middle and senior leadership levels. Before becoming the Executive Headteacher for Secondary and Special at Rivermead Inclusive Trust, he spent 6 years as a Headteacher at a specialist, Social Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) school in Chatham. Mark also carried out specialist, Local Authority behaviour outreach work across Medway and Kent, supporting schools, pupils and families.

Previous to being in education, Mark was a soldier in the British Army, serving his country as a vehicle mechanic in the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers (REME). He completed operational tours of both Northern Ireland and Cyprus, as part of the United Nations.
